Pass plus course

Pass plus is a voluntary scheme that offers benefits to newly qualified drivers helping them to...

  • Gain quality driving experience safely
  • Become a more skilful driver
  • Develop a positive driving style which is both enjoyable and safe
  • Reduce their risk of being involved in an accident

Having passed your driving test you have proved that you have reached the minimum safe standard to drive unsupervised.

Whilst learning to drive you were not allowed to drive on motorways, may never have driven in bad weather or at night.

Why take the chance of hoping that something does not go wrong when you do experience these new conditions? Take a pass plus course and improve your driving skills further and reduce your risk of being involved in an accident, or worse being the cause of one.

On completion of the course you will be issued a certificate, please note there is no test to be taken at the end of the course. Once pass plus is completed participating insurance companies are offering up to 35% off of insurance premiums.

How Pass Plus training works

Pass Plus training takes at least 6 hours. It has 6 modules, covering driving:

  • In town
  • In all weathers
  • On rural roads
  • At night
  • On dual carriageways
  • On motorways

All modules should be practical sessions, although local conditions may mean some are theory based. You’ll normally spend at least 5.5 hours driving. Pass Plus is a practical training course that takes at least 6 hours and is for drivers to improve their skills and drive more safely. It can be taken at any time although it should be most useful to new drivers in the year after passing their test. You won’t take a test but you’ll be assessed throughout the course. To pass you’ll have to reach the required standard in all modules

You’ll need a Pass Plus registered approved driving instructor (ADI) to teach you.
